FAQ’s

  • Do I work one-on-one with businesses for custom designs?

I sure do! Please see my Let’s Work Together page and fill in the website form to make an enquiry regarding this!

  • Who owns the copyright of the artwork and designs?

As the artist and designer, I own all copyright and ownership of both the original artworks, the patterns created and any derivatives that are produced from the original, at all times.

  • Do I offer buy-outs?

Currently I do not offer buy-outs for any of my artwork or designs.

  • What is meant by non-exclusivity?

Purchasing a non-exclusive pattern essentially means that other brands can also purchase the pattern to use on their products also.

I do not sell my patterns to more than one of the same brand category within the same region. For example, if an AUS/NZ stationary brand has purchased a non-exclusive pattern, I will not sell the same pattern to another stationary company in AUS/NZ.

However, it can still be purchased by a brand from a different category or region (e.g. a baby brand in AUS/NZ or a stationary brand in UK/EUR).

  • What is meant by exclusivity?

If a brand purchases a pattern exclusively within a region (e.g. AUS/NZ), it means that this pattern is off the market completely to all other brands within that region. It will not be sold to any other brand or company in AUS/NZ.

  • What happens after the 2 years is up?

I will contact you directly and offer the option of re-licencing the pattern. This works well if the pattern is still popular within the brands product offerings.

In the case that the brand does not wish to re-licence the pattern, the pattern again becomes available for purchase by other companies. If the pattern has been used by a brand category (e.g. swimwear) and another swimwear brand wants to licence the pattern after the original brands licence time has finished, I will notify the new company that the pattern has been previously used by a swimwear brand. I am all about transparency and honesty and have no intentions of misleading brands.

  • Are the files provided in RGB or CMYK?

My files are provided to you in CMYK colour. If you require, I can change these to RGB on my end. Please note that RGB is better suited for what’s on screen and CMYK is more appropriate for printing, though printed colours may vary from the digital screen colours. I can work with you to get colours exactly as you want at printing time, but please note that there is a design fee of $75 per hour if this is required.

  • Can the pattern be printed in RGB?

You can, but the colours will print much brighter. Due to the nature of the original artwork and the fact that it is watercolour and gouache, it is highly recommended that printing be done digitally, to be closer to the original colours and to pick up on all the intricacies of the colours used in the artwork.

  • Can I match to pantone swatches?

The nature of gouache and watercolour paints means that colours often blend and move together. As a result, it makes it very difficult to match every single colour within a design to the Pantone swatches. For most of my work, the colours are mixed and if we were to work with Pantone matching, this may reduce the intricacy of the design. I can specify the Pantone colour codes that are as close a match as possible, if you require.
